Mount Beauty and surrounds offers something for the extreme and for those that prefer the serene.

 

The valley is a mountain bike hub, with rides for all abilities. It also offers some very unique road rides with challenging climbs to test any enthusiast.

Take a stroll along the river or hike Victoria’s highest mountain, Mount Bogong. Or just relax and enjoy local wineries or a cool beer at the local boutique brewery.

Mountain Bike Riding

Widely regarded as one of Australia's premier cross country and downhill mountain biking areas, the Big Hill Mountain Bike Park regularly hosts races including the National Mountain Bike Championships.

The park is conveniently located on the edge of town on the road up to Falls Creek, along the Bogong High Plains Road. Big Hill is a diverse mountain bike park with plenty of trails to ride.

Cross Country Riding

However, if challenging yourself on a State or National course is not your style, there are plenty of cross country trails within the forests, National Park and high plains surrounding Mount Beauty. 

Of course don’t forget those challenging mountains to climb on the road bike, home to the 3 Peaks Challenge, Mount Beauty and surrounds has a lot to offer.

Camping & Adventure Activities

Mount Beauty is the perfect destination for families who are keen on a spot of camping, with easy to navigate adventure activities.

From tubing to kayaking, gentle bush walks to conquering Mount Bogong, the MTB Pump Track for little legs or the Big Hill Mountain Bike Park for the more experienced rider, 2 hour to full day horse rides - name your adventure, Mount Beauty has it.

  • Pondage Loop

    Time: 1 to 2.5 hours return

  • Redbank Road

    This sealed back road begins 13km from Mt Beauty, accessed via Kiewa Valley Highway towards Wodonga.

    Beautiful rural scenery and wineries en-route.

    Difficulty/Terrain: Up to 70km+ return.

  • Mt Beauty to Falls Creek

    Ride into the alpine cool. Food available at Falls Creek.

  • Gaps Loop

    Left across Rosewhite Gap; Ovens Valley Hwy to Bright; Tawonga Gap; Mt Beauty

  • Tawonga Gap

    Difficulty/Terrain: Hard
    Distance: 10km (7.5km Climb)

  • Falls Creek to Strawberry Saddle

    Very scenic ride in the alpine cool.
